People who value human dignity will surely miss Sr. Mariani Dimaranan, a champion of human rights. “You cannot keep down a woman with a heart for the poor and a heroism in the blood. She was a symbol of the collective courage of people who bravely stood for human rights and resisted state terrorism. Her memory will live on from generation to generation.”

“Because of the anti-terror hysteria in our country, human rights violations will triple and people like Mariani will be surely missed. But her spirit will live in us. The situation calls for us to triple our efforts so that our victories may not be taken back from us by the enemies of human rights.”

Fr. Ben Moraleda, CsSR

Chairperson, KAALAGAD

Sr. Mariani’s life is replete with stories about strength, courage and inspiration to many to fight for human rights and justice. These are the stories that we should tell the youth of today and the generations to come.

In closing, I would like to thank the SFIC and the family of Sr. Mariani for sharing her with us and the peoples. Sr. Mariani, maraming salamat sa buhay mong alay.

Aurora A. Parong, M.D.
